I'm curious about this, more than anything because I want to see if I can evaluate talent (and more than that, marketability), and I want to compare my opinions to yours. So here's what I think based on tonight.

Who's out this week: Stevie and Heather.

Who makes final 12: Mandisa, Ayla, Paris, Melissa, Lisa, Katharine.

Who has a chance to win:

Lisa - I'm not sure a 16-year old is mature enough to stand the amount of pressure that she's going to experience for the amount of time she will have to endure it. But she has the personality, the basic talent, and the vulnerability to do it.

Katharine - She understands style in a more mature way than Lisa, but may not have the natural talent she does. All-American in a year when a male will be likely to win. I like her more than anyone else. Needs to learn to move.

Dark Horses:

Paris - A little weak in the ear, but could improve that and her high range.

Ayla - Will be the most improved singer if she can stay in, and may become good enough to win.

Other notes:

Kinnik: Will be a television personality after she is voted off. I'm calling "TV Guide Channel" or "ET Weekend."

Brenna: Will be arrested within the next two years on either assault or disturbing the peace.

Speak! ... er, write!

I was waiting on you Brett, and you came through! Here goes:

Out this week: Becky and Stevie. Becky should just head straight to Maxim or Playboy and skip the in between. She was painful, and will unfortunately continue to make my ears bleed because her looks will keep her in the competition. Stevie, honey. If you were classically trained you would know how to control pitch, breathing and how to support your sound! I hope that was a result of nerves and not a reflection of your "operatic" training.

Out next week: Kellie.

Final 12: Mandisa, Ayla, Paris, Melissa, Katharine, and Lisa.

Possible winners:
Ayla- has the natural talent but is rough around the edges. Needs a bit of work but could very well take it.

Katharine- likable, funny, doesn't take herself too seriously ("I'm sorry you guys had to look at my butt the whole time." HA!), and what a voice. Definitely needs more presence onstage.

Others:
Lisa - Has vibrato wide enough to drive a truck through. Also has a great ear and fantastic control. Knows how to capture attention without demanding it.

Brenna - I continue to be embarassed for her. And anyone who knows her. Way to play the sensitive card, then proceed to backtalk with Simon and execute perfect stripper moves onstage during the credits. Bravo, honey. Bravo.

I need more from: Paris, Kinnik and Heather.

Brett, is a male more likely to win due to odds or talent? I guess we'll see tomorrow night.

Odds, I think. I haven't watched the males enough to be able to call it, but they appear to be very diverse and interesting, in contrast to the possible three females of any non-artifical substance and interest.

Plus, your winner has been a female 3 of the four years so far. If a female wins this time, I think the ratings start to slip... and I also think 19 Entertainment will seriously investigate the creation of a third gender.

As Opera Man would say,
"Opera girl... BYE-BYYYYYYYEEEEE!"

I don't know their names (evidently that's Stevie - thanks Oob) because I've never watched an intermediate espisode - only very beginning and final 4. I also think the blonde from North Carolina is going to get the boot, which is a shame because she told me she was going to use her winnings to buy us a house to spend the rest of our lives together in... But I liked the "Goin' Back to Georgia" girl, and "Reflection (from Mulan)" girl.

I haven't watched enough to be able to make any judgements, really. But I will say that every time they say "Ayla Brown" I think they're saying "Eva Braun" and that makes me uncomfortable.
