Idol Chatter 2/22/06 (Men)

I am missing the fun as we speak... work and a bid'ness dinner. Tell me what you hear/see.

Out this week: David and Bobby. You are not Sinatra. You are not Barry Manilow. Stop it.

Out next week: Poor little Kevin. Cute will only get you so far...

Final 12, in my order of preference: Elliott, Chris, Taylor, Ace, Gideon, Patrick/Sway.

Confusion: Patrick needs to stick with love ballads and subtlety- not Melissa Etheridge. Sway should not have attempted EW&F's Reasons- keep it within the stratosphere, boy! Bucky did a respectable job of Lynnard's Simple Man, but his ear needs work. Gideon's smile scares me too, Simon. It's as if he has a flip-top head like Terrance and Philip! His facial skin cannot stretch enough to keep his choppers concealed, so he plasters on this "I'm a'gonna eatcha" grin that bothers the hell out of me... while jabbering at the camera in his preachy-robotic dialogue! Heebie-jeebies, I tell you!!!

Why these winners? Because they picked songs that suited them, and sang them well. I struggled with the sixth because neither Sway nor Patrick sang to their capability. I was most impressed with Elliott and Chris. Ballsy songs, (If you really love me by Stevie W. and Wanted Dead or Alive, JBJovi) and they actually had the talent to back it up.

Top three guys of the night.
Chris, Elliot and Ace, in that order. Will Makar is good too, just not as strong.
Chris is so marketable, have a lovable demeanor and sang very well and he looks like my hubby so that's a plus!
Elliot can sing, no doubt but I don't think he's marketable, he's just not cute enough for America to love.
Ace..... oh sweet Jesus, Ace. I loved the song when it was done originally, but holy crap I thought my toes were going to curl just watching/listening to you!

Since I didn't write about the girls yesterday....
Top three girls are Ayla, Mandisa, and Katharine.

I think Bucky and Bobby will be gone this week. The Skynard thing was way overdone in my opinion. And the Barry Manilow thing just didn't do it for me.

For next week I think it'll be David and Kevin. David because it's not 1950, and Kevin because he looks like he's 12.

Elliott by far had the best voice, but has the notable disadvantage of looking like a goat. Conversely, Ace will stick around for a while simply because he makes teenage girls all wobbly-kneed. Chris also did well, but I'm not sure he's widely marketable.
